Intermountain Healthcare Will Open a New Distribution Center in July 2012

Intermountain Healthcare will open a new distribution center in July 2012 as part of its move toward self-distribution. Intermountain is the right size and geographic density, it feels, to handle its own distribution.

The $35 million distribution center is expected to help streamline the supply-chain process. Intermountain has been focused heavily on standardization for some time and has been self-contracting as well on certain products.

Intermountain Healthcare is an internationally recognized system of 23 hospitals and a full range of medical services, multi-specialty clinics and physician offices, InstaCare urgent care centers, KidsCare after-hours clinics, homecare & hospice, lab services, imaging and radiology, LifeFlight emergency medical transportation, and WorkMed occupational health clinics.

Key medical services include Cancer, Heart & Vascular, Women & Newborns, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, and many more. Intermountain offers health insurance services through SelectHealth.

Founded in 1994, the Intermountain Medical Group serves patients at more than 165 clinics throughout the Intermountain region, from St. George to Logan, Utah. Medical Group physicians and advanced-practice clinicians share medical resources, knowledge, and patient information.

SelectHealth and Intermountain work together to help people improve their health and manage the cost of healthcare. SelectHealth plan members have access to preventive care services, disease management resources, and care managers who help them follow their treatment programs. For several years, SelectHealth has been the administrator for the state’s high-risk health insurance pool, HIPUtah.
